The space is very large, 20 feet wide with 12 foot ceiling. It took most of the day to install all four units, but the installers took their time to be sure the installation was done properly. There was a small problem with one of the mount boards sagged, I called to report the problem and within a day Star Shades had someone on site to fix the problem.  After that all is well.  The shades really help keep the back porch more comfortable in the hot San Antonio sun.

Fabrication seemed to go well and installation was quick while I was out at work. They were willing to work with my schedule for the quote and measurements, and actual installation was quick. He discussed potential delays due to the time of year and supply-demand issues with materials, but it didn’t turn out to be an issue. I may have just gotten lucky with the size of the job. Prices were by square foot, so it could be a negotiation point if you have many large windows and don’t need the fake pane/gridwork. I’m new to the area and never knew of solar screens before, but the final product appears to be of high quality and is performing as advertised. The solar load inside the house is noticeably reduced and the screens/frames appear durable enough to withstand many years and storms.

Called on 10/24/2013, spoke with David about some screen work. Short while later one of his appointment setters called back to clarify details , phone, address, etc . for work crew. Bright and early , per my request, they called and said they would be at residence in 30 minutes. Ha ! , more like 20 minues ,, can you say muy Pronto !. Anyway, two man crew showed at residence , took some measurements, old screen frames from front door and said they would be back in an hour or so . Sure enough within an hour they called and said on their way.

The screen work was actually a birthday present for our neighbors daughters’ house, we were going in together on this so it worked out well for both. 
The crew showed and had the new screens in place in probably less than 20 minutes, and they look great with the house color. Mom picked the screen and frame color and did a good job to match. Mom also had them do an estimate for a side sliding door and will be getting back with them at a later date .
I , on the other hand will have them come out to my house sometime after the first of the year and re-do my entire house. I ‘ve had solar screens on our house for at least the last 25 years, time for new ones.
In short , these guys were terrific. The work was on time, fast, good price ( I remember paying the same or near same price for my screens when first installed years ago ), nice clean fit and color matched well with house. 
Would I recommend these folks, in a heart beat. They may be in Cibilio, but they sure move when it comes to doing a job.
If you are in need of some solar screening ,, you cant go wrong with em.

StarShade did a wonderful job. First of all, Mr. David Hunt responded the same day to my initial phone inquiry about the company’s products. He also came within 24 hours to do an estimate in writing and give me advice about the products that would meet my needs. He actually advised me to do a less expensive option, which is great value for the money and exactly met my needs. His crew turned up within 36 hours to take my existing screens to their workshop and replace the screening material with UAV blocking screening. They were back within 2 business days as agreed. The new screens were professionally done and they took great care to not damage the frames, which were special items with tabs that could easily have been broken. The job was fast, efficient, professional and well-done.

The product worked so well that I subsequently ordered screens for the windows across the back on my house. These had to be done differently to fit the windows and fit in with the color scheme of the house. Again, the StarShade crew gave me good advice and did a quick, professional job that looks great and does exactly what I needed the product to do as regards privacy and heat reduction. The employees were all friendly and professional. I recommend StarShade and would do business with them again.

I read all the reviews and almost didn’t call StarShade because they had some negative reviews in the past. But everything else indicated they would be the best choice. We had the same product previously on another house in another part of the state, and we wanted the same product. I contacted the manufacturer of the materials, and they told me StarShade was the only vendor in our area. So, despite the mixed reviews they had in the past, I called them.  David Hunt, the owner, came to our house to give us an estimate. His price was reasonable, he could get the job done in a short turn around time, and he knew his product. I asked him about those past negative reviews. He explained some issues in the past that had led to the unhappy customers, and he also told me what steps he had taken to insure those issues did not recur. I believed him and decided to buy from him. I am so glad I did. 
I researched other companies before deciding on StarShade, and I took estimates from 2 other companies. One didn’t match up in quality to StarShade. The other had a considerably higher price and didn’t even follow up with me the way StarShade did. For the quality and price, StarShade had everyone else beat for custom made solar screens. 
The first set of window screens that we ordered were ready within a few days, and Brian came to install them. Brian was very meticulous in his work and made sure I was happy before he left. When we ordered the roller shades, it took longer to get them in because StarShade had to order them from an out of state company. When they were ready, again, Brian came out to install them. He gave us some different options on how he could install the pull chain to control them. Again, he made sure we were completely satisfied before he left. Finally we got the last screen. Since it was outside the fence, Brian just came and installed it without our even having to meet with him. 
The products have worked great and have performed as promised and as we expected. We immediately noticed the difference in the amount of hot sunlight coming into the windows. Since this was our first summer here, I can’t really comment on a difference in the utility bills. However, since we had the product before in a previous house, we knew they would make a difference. Shortly after we got our screens, we noticed some of our neighbors getting screens as well. They must have noticed how good ours looked.

I would recommend StarShade to anyone who wants custom made solar screen products. They are a local company, and they give personalized service. They made me a very happy customer, and they made my house look great.
