FAQ

Do solar screens pay for themselves?

Solar screens stop the sun from heating your windows. Reducing energy usage lowers electric bills. In just a few years you will have saved enough money to pay for your solar screens.

Will I be able to see out through the solar screens?

Both 80% an 90% solar screens allow you to see clearly outside, but do not allow others to see inside.

Are there differences in solar screens?

All solar screens have a solar fabric in 70%, 80% or 90% blockage. What makes StarShade Solar Screens different is the solar fabric that we use. Textilene solar fabric comes with a limited lifetime warranty compared to competitor’s 10 year warranty. StarShade Solar Screens have a thicker, stronger frame and secure the fabric so that it will never come loose. No plastic corners are used in AA solar screens and they will not deteriorate over time.

Should I remove my solar screens in the winter?

It is not necessary to remove your screens at all, unless you are looking for a little more light in the winter months. In fact, AA solar screens will give your windows protection from cold by insulating the glass.

What is the purpose of solar screens?

Solar screens stop harmful solar rays from deteriorating and discoloring your furniture, carpet, drapes, blinds and photos. An added benefit of solar screens is the reduced load put onto your air conditioning system. This adds live to your unit and saves you money.

What is the lifetime of a solar screen?

Typically solar screens should last 20-25 years. StarShade offers a non-transferable ten year warranty on parts, labor and installation. Competing companies usually offer a 1 year warranty. Textilene solar fabric offers a limited lifetime warranty as long as you live in your home.
